Feature Friday with @craftydeesigns

Hi journalers and planners! Thanks for tuning into my first Feature Friday.  Today's spotlight is on Deena aka @craftydeesigns. If you don't already follow this amazing human being, do so now!

I've been following Deena since the start of my own journaling journey.  She is incredibly active in the Bullet Journal® community on Instagram and regularly partakes in the #RockYourHandwriting challenges. I fell in love with one of her prompts that she wrote in her journal and had to hand-letter it because it was so good.  Here's a side by side of her original post and mine!

How to Draw: Monstera Leaf

Here's another drawing tutorial.  This has shown up in my spreads a few times and I absolutely love drawing them because they are super easy but instantly adds a pop to any spread.

How to Draw: Banana Leaf

My tropical leaf April theme has me so excited.  I've been filling my weekly spreads and my collections with banana, palm and monstera leaves. This theme was inspired by my love for all things tropical and my recent trip to Sydney, Australia where I think I took more photos of giant leaves than people.

I decided to do a how to draw banana leaf tutorial within my Bullet Journal®. Follow me on Instagram for more tutorials!

Feel free to grab this starter template for Step 1 to copy in your journal. Print it, slip it behind the pages and trace!

This is my 2017 Week 11 log. It features pops of colored pencils, patterned and calendar stamps and a layout that is still incredibly functional!

I say this all the time because it's true: my bullet journal really is my happy place.  These colors and these shapes will keep me smiling this week.

Instagram Challenge: #serifwritingchallenge

Instagram Challenge: #serifwritingchallenge

My theme for February: chic, modern and luxe. For me, this means clean lines and classic fonts. And it doesn't get more classic than a good serif font.

Serif: "a slight projection finishing off a stroke of a letter in certain typefaces." A classic serif font would be Times New Roman. With beautiful handwritten fonts and modern calligraphy, we have really turned bullet journaling around and have been creating beautiful spreads. But I haven't seen many bullet journal headers utilizing a serif font. I know for me, these fonts are difficult to draw consistently. Luckily I've been able to cook up some really helpful stickers that I've been using in my bullet journal.

Dynamic Kanban Board in your Bullet Journal

Dynamic Kanban Board in your Bullet Journal

I practice the Kanban methodology at work. It's a process that started with Toyota and has been frequently leveraged by software developer teams. I've had great success using it at work and figured I could start adding it to my bullet journal to track the projects I've been working on for INKBYJENG Etsy.

Bullet Journaling For Your Inner Perfectionist

Bullet Journaling For Your Inner Perfectionist

Within the last two months I have become a regular user of the bullet journal system. My sister-in-law mentioned that she was using it and had an Instagram account for it. I was already familiar with the system having seen Ryder Carroll's kickstarter, but I wasn't convinced that it would help me. But after a finding a ton of inspiration online, I knew I had to try. It has greatly improved my daily routine and has really helped me to rekindle my love for drawing.
